The Prison Officers’ Association of Trinidad & Tobago main Objectives
a) To protect and promote the interest of its members.
b) To regulate their conditions of employment and their relations with their employing body.
c) To provide for the representation of its members at enquiries in connection with alleged disciplinary
offences and to settle disputes.
d) To provide and maintain death and other benefits as provided hereinafter .
e) To provide and maintain such services for the benefit of members as specified in section 15 of the Prison Service Act, and any other matters as the Executive Committee may from time to time determine.
f) To improve the services generally.
g) To maintain funds for the purpose.
h) To provide funds for the publication of the journal of the Association known as “THE PRISON OFFICERS REVIEW” which is to be published at least twice per year and on special occasions as the circumstances warrant. (The “REVIEW”) shall be reflective of the high standard set by the Association at all times and that special care shall be taken to ensure that its contents and materials are of a reasonable good standard of journalism.

To become a member, you must be a serving Prisons Officer in Trinidad and Tobago. Simply click on the ‘Join Us’ button, register with your details, and submit a membership application form. Our team will verify your employment status and activate your membership within 3-7 business days.
Membership fees are deducted directly from your salary through an authorized payroll deduction. The current monthly fee is $100 TTD and an Entrance Fee of $40 TTD, which gives you access to all member benefits including legal representation, healthcare coverage, training programs, and welfare support.
Members enjoy comprehensive benefits including: legal representation for workplace disputes, healthcare coverage for you and your family, professional development and training programs, career advocacy support, workplace safety initiatives, financial assistance and welfare support, collective bargaining representation, and housing assistance programs.

Most form submissions are reviewed within 5-7 business days.
Yes! Each form in the Member Portal has a ‘Download’ option that allows you to download a PDF version. You can print and fill these forms manually, then submit them directly to the POA representative, POA Main Office or scan and email them to forms@poatt.com.

Yes, certain benefits extend to immediate family members. Healthcare coverage includes your spouse and dependent children. Some welfare programs also support family members. Specific coverage details are available in the Benefits Guide accessible through the Member Portal.
Log into the Member Portal and navigate to ‘Available Forms’. Select the appropriate form (Grievance Form), fill in the required details, and submit .
To file a grievance, log into the Member Portal and complete the Grievance Form with all relevant details including the incident date, location, description, and resolution sought. Our grievance committee will review your submission and contact you within 10 business days to discuss next steps.
